Cherilynn Levitan

Longtime friend Steve Basehore notified the site administrator of the death of fellow classmate Cherilynn Levitan.  "Sadly, Charan (as she was know in later years) passed away in 2002 after an extraordinarily courageous battle with cancer.  She stayed in touch with me thru out the years and I was fortunate enough to be one of the last people to see her on the night before her death (as well as being able to spend time with her during the many months prior). Charan and I both lived in San Diego at one point in time and spent a fair amount of time together, especially since we both were actively involved in various aspects of the entertainment industry.  During one particularly difficult period for me, Charan was kind enough to pay my way for us to have a day at Sea World together.  I will always remember that time with great fondness.  Charan eventually moved to Long Beach, where she had her own townhouse which she remodeled and where she often commuted to Los Angeles for auditions, etc.  She was also extremely supportive of her mother before her mom's death (also after a long battle with cancer).  Charan was definitely a woman with her own mind!  I'm glad we were able to share many moments together before her death, which happened when she was far too young.

Just having returned from our 40th reunion, I so very missed not having shared it with Cherilynn, too! She was my ever cheery choral mate and friend. When I close my eyes, I can still bring to mind her petit form bouncing down the hallowed halls of West High, always greeting me with a smile so big it made everything else disappear in her wake! I would have loved to have spent more time on this earth in the presence of such a very precious soul as Cherilynn...maybe in the next life. I will remember you, dear Cherilynn "milele" (Ki Swahili meaning forever and ever!)
